Medical News: Risk of Epilepsy Measured, May Be Still Higher - in Neurology, Seizures from MedPage Today

This research was originally concluded and published late last year. In researching the topic, we could not find ONE major news outlet that had reported on this study. The study concluded that 1 in 26 may still be an under estimate due to the fact that the United States currently has no reporting system for incidences involving Seizures and Epilepsy. As it stands, using this data, the incidence of Epilepsy in the United States is raised from 3 Million to 12 Million, with Men having a slightly higher chance of developing Epilepsy: 1 in 21.

Destiny Maker Annual Bike Ride

Glenn Fenster, Destiny Maker, is currently involved in his annual cycling tour across North America raising awareness about Epilepsy. Glenn is one seriously dedicated father and Destiny Maker..

This may be the first time you have heard about him so, please take a moment to see what he has been up to and all the great work he has been doing. Information about his journey is available in the following places.

Glenn's Blog : http://glennsjourney.xanga.com/
Glenn's Twitter: search "@destinymaker4u"
Glenn's Website: http://www.destinymakerevents.com/

If you saw on his blog, Glenn posted:

"Good morning, of what I hope will be one final full day in Colorado. Really looking forward to getting to Utah where I know the Epilepsy [Association] of Utah and others will be helping me. Of all the affiliates, they are the ONLY ONE to really keep in touch, see what I might need, offer assistance such as cooking meals, and meeting support groups."

If you have anything to contribute, such as assistance with food, bike repairs, or just some emotional encouragement please let us know (via email, text, or FB message) if you would like to be there.

We know it's short notice (this years weather has slowed Glenn down) but according to his schedule he should be in SLC on Friday or Saturday (more likely Saturday). We need to make sure that this amazing guy is supported when he comes into Utah. We will update the blog and other social media outlets when we know for sure where he will be staying and where we can meet him.

He deserves to be cheered on for the work he is doing and it would be a great opportunity to hear what he has to say about raising Epilepsy awareness. Again, If you have anything to contribute, such as assistance with food, bike repairs, or just some good encouragement please let us know (via email, text, or FB message) if you would like to be there. Thank you.
